SVHC Candidate List - Total 174 Substances within the list

On 15 June 2015, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the addition of 2 new substances as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) to the Candidate List. This brings the total number of substances on the Candidate List to 163.

On 17 December 2015, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially added five new SVHCs to Candidate List due to the carcinogenic, toxic to reproduction, persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT), and very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties of the substances. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC) for authorization now contains 168 substances.

On 20 June 2016, ECHA officially added one new SVHC to the Candidate List - Benzo[a]pyrene, CAS number: 50-32-8. The candidate list of SVHC for authorization now contains 169 substances.

On 19 December 2016, ECHA officially added four new SVHCs to the Candidate List in January 2017, and making SVHCs for authorization now contains 173 substances.

On 10 July 2017, ECHA has added the substance PFHxS to the Candidate List. Entries for bisphenol A and four phthalates have been updated to include endocrine-disrupting properties for human health. The Candidate List of Substances of very high concern (SVHCs) for authorization now contains 174 substances.

SVHC Authorisation List - Total 31 Substances within the list

On 14 February 2012, the European Union published Decision EC 125/2012 to include eight additional
substances from the European
Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Candidate List to the EC 1907/2006 Annex XIV
of the REACH regulation. This means that these eight
substances will be banned from 2015 unless an
authorisation is granted to individual companies for their use.

On 17 April 2013, the European Commission has published regulation EU 348/2013. With that, eight as
"Substance of very high concern – SVHC" classified substances have been added to Annex XIV of the
REACH regulation EC 1907/2006. After a transitional period the use of these Substances is forbidden
unless a limited authorization has been granted. Annex XIV of REACH now contains 22 substances.

EU Dimethylfumarate (DMF) Ban Becomes Permanent

The European Union issued the government gazette to promulgate (EU) No 412/2012 instructions. The ban on biocide dimethylfumarate (DMF) under the
REACH annex XVII was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 15 May 2012 and enters into force 20 days later. This Regulation should be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

" 61. Dimethylfumarate (DMF)CAS No 624-49-7EC 210-849-0 | Shall not be used in articles or any parts thereof in concentrations greater than 0.1 mg/kg. Articles or any parts thereof containing DMF in concentrations greater than 0.1 mg/kg shall not be placed on the market. "
